Who can benefit from these sessions?

Moving Wisdom can benefit anyone with curiosity, openness, and dedication to improve their physical and mental health. It requires no particular skill outside of the willingness to learn and to practice what you have learned in your daily activities.

Will I look better from doing this practice?

My clients feel vital, dynamic and joyful after sessions. By learning to move with awareness, you radiate from within. Most likely, all of your activities will improve, an effect of that is that others may think you look “better.”

Are the movement sessions like yoga or tai chi?

A Moving Wisdom session can have effects similar to yoga and tai chi. Those effects include centering, grounding, balancing, and strengthening.   All sessions are based upon learning to be aware while in motion. In this practice, there are no sustained postures, no specific breathing patterns and no form to be memorized. Moving Wisdom sessions focus upon your ability to move naturally in all aspects of your life with ease. Your progress is based upon your commitment to practice at home between sessions and integrate what you have learned into your daily activities.

Will this get rid of my shoulder/back/wrist pain?

Pain is a strong motivator for most of us to try a new method. Clients have alleviated pain and found ways to deal with recurring aches by doing this work. All behavioral and emotional problems can be traced back to the simple movement choices that each of us make on a daily basis. Habitual patterns of movement are the source of our emotional and physical difficulty. They get in the way of natural movement choices that arise from your internal knowing. Moving Wisdom sessions address the results and effects of years of habitual movement patterns, ie. pain. Through each session, your natural movement signature will be pointed out, cultivated and encouraged to inform your actions. Gently and slowly you will find subtle new possibilities in motion that will free you from the grips of pain.

"I broke and displaced my tailbone eight yearsago. Until I started working with Gail, I could not roll on my tailbone,
had a fear of falling and could not do my favorite activities like riding a bike or running without pain.
After only working for a few months, all of those problems started to go away. I feel like I have my old body back!
It has really changed my life in such a positive way. I highly recommend this work to anyone,
but especially to thosewith an old injury or chronic pain."
