| About Gail Gustafson For 25 years, Gail Gustafson has studied, practiced, performed and taught in the field of movement, theater and dance. For 15 years she performed with Jeff Bickford’s Zen Fred Movement Theater, toured internationally with TNR/Mobius and choreographed independent works. She is a Certified Laban Movement Analyst (CMA 1988), a TTouch practitioner (2004), and a Certified Pilates Instructor (CPI 1992). In 1993, Gail began developing her own techniques and system for teaching body and mind awareness. This work has grown from technique classes for professional dancers/actors into a private practice for anyone interested in expanding their awareness through movement. Her work is known as Moving Wisdom. Gail currently teaches classes, workshops and private sessions in Los Angeles and Colorado. Gail has presented her approach to teaching for Somatics conferences, Motus Humanus, and the international conferences for Dance Therapy and Laban Movement Analysis. She has worked as a movement consultant for the Physicalmind Institute and other Pilates certification programs. She is cofounder of Motion Studies Center for training body, mind and spirit in WA and CO. In 1996, Gail developed a training program for teachers who use body and mind awareness in their practices. Gail met Warren Lamb, the creator of Movement Pattern Analysis, in 1991. Inspired by his innovation and in depth knowledge of Laban’s work, Gail began to consult with Warren about the study and application of movement practice. These consultations fed Gail’s creation of Moving Wisdom, and led her to stretch the Laban framework into the field of domestic animals. In 2004, Gail certified in TTouch training for companion animals. Using her skills in movement analysis, Gail teaches owners to become aware of how their movements affect their animal’s behavior and how to observe their animal’s movements with clarity. Inspired by Ken’s skillful teaching and emphasis on experiential awareness, Gail began to study meditation under his guidance. In 2004, Ken authorized Gail to teach meditation. In 2006, she became a participant in his teacher development group. Gail now integrates her knowledge of movement awareness into meditation courses and private consultations for meditation practitioners. |
